MRC Roadsafe 4x4 RP-CRU200 Landcruiser 200 Series Recovery Points
Included is a pair of genuine Roadsafe recovery points, powder coated bright yellow.
The tow point mounting holes are slightly elongated to allow tolerance for chassis manufacture.
The tow points are sided—with the one marked with the ‘L’ to be positioned on the LHS (passenger) of the vehicle & the one marked with the ‘R’ to be positioned on the RHS (driver) or the vehicle. The hole for the shackle should be forward.
The factory tie down point will need to be removed to allow fitment of the tow point.
Each tow point is to be installed with 2 x M12 x 1.25 bolts supplied, and retained with Nut, remembering to include the Flat & Spring Washers (one of each per bolt). These bolts are to be used in the 2 holes to the most rear of the tow point.
A third bolt/nut is to be used in the most forward mount hole of the tow point. For TJM & Ironman Bars you will need to drill a hole in the support bracket & supply a nut/bolt to suit. This will not be applicable for ARB bars, as the support bracket is not located in this position. 12/1/16 noted that if fitted with ECB bull bar will require high tensile 12.9 longer bolts (not supplied).
Ensure 2 bolts per tow point are fitted (3 bolts for TJM & Ironman bar applications) and torqued to recommended settings to ensure tow points meet tested standards.
- 4 x M12 x 1.25 Bolts
- 4 x M12 x 1.25 Nuts
- 4 x M12 Flat Washers
- 4 x M12 Spring Washers
There is much confusion amongst 4WD’ers regarding tow points. Unfortunately, this has been exacerbated because many modern vehicles are fitted with generic tow points.
Generic tow points are not vehicle specific, and while rated to 10,000lbs (4.5t) or similar, mounting them is often done by the vehicle owner, who is not in a position to ascertain whether the mounting location can handle the loads exerted during a recovery.
Depending upon how and where these points are mounted, generic style tow points can be unsuitable for recovery situations, and have been seen to fail during recovery operations.
A well designed set of tow points will have 5 key points that make them worth the investment for you, and bystanders during recovery situations.
They bolt straight on to specific existing chassis holes with no chassis modifications required.
Manufactured in High Quality Australian Steel.
Include High Quality stamped rated bolts (grade 8.8 or higher).
